"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing." So goes Psalm 100... an exhortation to all of us to praise God cheerfully. Here at St. Damian Parish, I must admit, many of you have already answered this charge quite well. On more than one occasion, visitors to the parish have told me how well the congregation here at St. Damian sings and participates in the Mass. And, now, I invite all of you to prayerfully consider this Psalm's joyful command. The various parish choirs have begun the task of leading the congregation in song at the weekly liturgies. You too, can be part of this music ministry program.
Even if you have never joined a choir before, or if you think you cannot sing, you might be surprised at how much musical talent lies deep within. Over the years, I have found that the best musical talent really rests in the heart and soul of the singer. God has given each of us a voice with which to serve Him who has given so much to us. So, listen to that quiet, small voice deep inside you and act accordingly. All are welcome!!
If you really don't think you can carry a tune, but feel the desire to praise God with music, come and join our Handbell Choir - a fun group! They not only ring for mass, but entertain at several nursing homes throughout the year.
